Mark to Andre:

My apologies for the misunderstanding. Plato's Good is also a finger pointing since it refers to the pre conceptual in my opinion.

Andre:
So what are we to do with that one Mark? You remind me of Marsha. She experiences lots of things and then comments on some fundamentals of the MOQ which 'in her opinion' do not add up thereby distorting Pirsig's writing to such an extent that the MOQ disappears. Plato's Good does not refer to the 'pre-conceptual'. Any reference to the 'preconceptual' he kept to himself, never wrote a thing about it.

Mark:
Pirsig made up the term DQ in order to explain Quality. I agree with the perennial part which is why I bring in so many other explanations for it from up to 5,000 years ago.

Andre:
I am impressed Mark. Gee, you incorporate sooo many things from 5000 years ago! I am impressed! You really must be a very intelligent person. But Pirsig did NOT 'make up the therm DQ in order to' EXPLAIN 'Quality'. Where the heck does Pirsig explain(!!!)Quality ?????????????????????

Dynamic Quality is a 'referring term' a 'finger pointing to...' this referring term is not an explanation but a 'gentle hint'.

Mark in response to my suggestion as to why Pirsig chose the term Quality:
Yes, this could be true if it is explained properly. Without such explanation, it is easy to say it does not exist, and simply the ravings of a madman.

Andre:
Oh, for goodness sake Mark. What needs 'proper' explaining? Why do you get out of bed in the morning (assuming that you do)? What is the 'driving force'? Discussing Quality can be made as easy or as difficult as you are able to apprehend and afterwards explain it.

Mark:
MoQ is child's play compared to other perennial philosophies in terms of detail, but it is a beginning. This forum is meant to further discuss MoQ.

Andre:
I believe that this shows your misconception and underestimation of what Pirsig has accomplished. I hope I am not too judgemental when I suggest that the understanding/interpretation and usefulness (in other words: the value) of the MOQ depends on what intellectual capacities one brings to it. And not wanting to make too fine a point of it, this statement is reflected in your contributions here on this discuss.

Peace.
