Marsha to Dan:
WTF, Dan, I've read LILA& associated texts and come up with "ever-changing, conditionally co-dependent, impermanent and conceptualized". Do you disagree? That's not a problem for me, because:
"Unlike subject-object metaphysics the Metaphysics of Quality does not insist on a single exclusive truth." (LILA, Chapter 8)
"The Metaphysics of Quality says there can be many competing truths and it is value that decides among them. This is the very essence of William James' philosophy of Pragmatism which Bohr greatly admired. The name "Complementarity" itself means there can be multiple truths."(SODV)
Andre:
It seems to me to be taking a very presumptuous step and thereby highlighting the importance of a huge ego for Marsha's to equate her mere opinion with what Pirsig's identifies as 'truth'.
Ever heard of verification/discussion of one's experience with one's peers (at the same level)? In Buddhism this is called a sangha or [like minded] 'community'.
It is well known in the scientific community that before publishing something, one's findings/results are to be verified by colleagues. If and when they confirm the results they can be made public. This gives them weight and [provisional] truth status.
But, I just remembered, Marsha is not really the greatest exemplar of asking whether she could be wrong (or right for that matter). As she keeps on telling us she is just 'exploring'.
Funny way to explore really. Ah, WTF who cares? Eh?
