My name is Jan Anders.

Economics is the study of commerce as metaphysics is the study of physics. It is true that it is impossible to make a commercial deal without customer values. Economics without taking care of customer values has no value.

“No deals are done if either party does not think that he will be better off after the deal. The seller has his prices and his calculated margins. The buyer buys if he thinks that the thing he is buying is worth more than the money he pays for it. After the deal, the seller is a little richer and the buyer gets something of higher value than before. Therefore, in most deals all around the world, in every affair and purchase, the total sums of values are increased by every case of buying and selling.
“The total wealth of a society and nation, the whole world in fact, the whole wealth of the world is built on all these deals. Therefore it is so important that the rules and laws of trade are followed by all of us. Good rules of trade give a healthy and growing economy. It would be perfect if nothing were consumed, destroyed or thrown away.
“But the funny part of the flash is that I could see that only half of the wealth is counted. Because we can prove the numeric value of the money part that is kept in books. The numbers are reported to the responsible managers of the company, to stockholders and other interested people. But the buyer’s part of it, the buyer’s benefit, the difference between what the buyer thinks it is worth for him and what he actually pays, that value is never entered into the books.”
