Doesn't Pirsig qualify the quote that Marsha has used below by saying that DQ is "unknowable" in the sense of there being a KNOWER and a KNOWN?  i.e. he's warning the reader not to end-up in some kind of SOM metaphysical trap by them trying to define DQ.

Anyway, I found Joe's clarification between the definitions of "indefinable" and "unknowable" helpful here,
