Joe,
And this is the level of turtles where you choose to draw the line? It makes you comfortable to name it 'consciousness'? That's your stopping point? That's what is workable for you? That is what is useful?
What do you mean by 'direct perception'? To the question "What is that?", the mind may adjust the visual data, but not apply language? Or do you have a different explanation?
