Hi David,
The MoQ translations states: "While sustaining biological and social patterns." That "sustaining" requires 'thinking about'. You seem to be using the term 'intellect' as 'thinking about'. I understand Intellectual patterns of value to be those like "truth, justice, freedom, democracy and trial by jury.", not merely 'thinking about'.
