We think/talk about space in either 1- (distance), 2- (area) or 3-dimensions (volume).
We think of time in 1-dimension (timeline).  The fact that we think/talk about both 
space & time in 1-dimension, does nothing to show that we think/talk "about time in terms
of space".  (And, of course, not vice versa either.)
