Why what?

I'm not aware that I advocated (in that post) the necessity of a priest to "run 
interference" or denied the possibility of people figuring things out for 
themselves. I'm happy to further explore what I think a priest can and cannot 
do, but I doubt we'd actually disagree _in_principle_ on that.

It was the assumption that I had - and therefore the conclusion that you weren't 
actually reading what I had written but were simply working something out for 
yourself - that provoked my last response. My belief is that if you could - 
miracle of miracles - put aside some of your assumptions about me for just the 
teensiest moment we might be able to have an enlightening conversation. I live 
in hope.

As for it being a 'politically incorrect' question - ha! right - is that just 
your euphemism for 'rude'?

If you'd like to rephrase it, I'll give you a fuller answer.
