Andre:
I agree with Bodvar that the S/O distinction was born with Aristotle,
that it was a product of Greek culture. This is what Pirsig argues in
ZMM. I am leaving the SOL intact. What I am suggesting/exploring is
that this scientific understanding of reality has been adopted by the
scientific community in one way and that different cultures have
assimilated/ absorbed and responded ,to the effects of its attempts to
control society in different ways.

[Krimel]
The distinction between self and other is built into the genetic patterns of
slime mold. The perception of the self as distinction from others begins in
all human beings everywhere and everywhen around the age of six months. By
13 or 14 months all healthy human infants develop the ability to see the
world from different points of view. They can see themselves as subjects and
they can see themselves as objects. This is not an artifact of the Greek
age. It is an artifact of being a human being on planet earth.

The patterns that "dominate" any level are just those that work the best.
But the level may contain "bad" patterns as well.
