this is a very interesting topic...want to comment more if I can find the
time -
but I read this interesting statistic (seems I've seen it several times,
different
places): 

generally a woman will NOT divorce her husband after an affair UNLESS
he has spent significant money on the other woman - set her up in a house
or given her lots of gifts, etc. 

If money hasn't been involved - usually the wife finds a way to forgive
him. 

so - maybe it has more to do with where the money is going than 
where his attention is going. 

also - let's don't forget that women screw around too...
