No one who regards the MOQ an intellectual pattern has transcended 
SOM  because this is not the Q-level but MIND where ideas, thoughts 
and concepts reside.

Mr.Pirsig has said many things among other that if the SOL has quality 
it would percolate to the top and it has certainly percolated (yes, yes, I 
know your standard reply) Besides both books are full of hints to the 
SOL, but how much of such  evidence I bring forth you just shout you 
childish inanities..

"Rationality" was indeed young Phaedrus' target, but this was not 
modified, the revolution was - and still is -  the metaphysical inside-out 
turn that made rationality a fall-out of Quality (also called "intellect" in 
that book, did you notice?) In LILA three levels were introduced before 
the intellectual, but that poses no problem had intellect kept is original 
value, but - alas - it had changed into INTELLIGENCE and the 4th 
level's purpose - to control the 3rd. - were abolished. 

Theoretically, that is, but when Pirsig continued  to write LILA intellect's 
true "social controller" structure (by its objective-over-subjective 
structure) - pops up all over the text. If you really are interested we can 
discuss these things but if so you have to change to a more mature 
tone.   

Yes, the 4th. intellectual level definitely is rationality, but a level cannot 
be "root-operated" on, what would such an operation mean to the 
biological level? Life changed to death? Or on the social level? Social 
order changed into ditto disorder? Come to your senses.

MOQ's very purpose is to liberate us from SOM's bleak outlook of 
ourselves as isolated subjects locked up in our respective head, 
principally and  irredeemable  isolated from experience. MOQ's 
message is that experience and existence are integrated. Hence the 
"no one can avoid metaphysics", while you stick to SOM's metaphysics 
as theories about experience..
