MOQ's very purpose is to liberate us from SOM's bleak outlook of
ourselves as isolated subjects locked up in our respective head,
principally and irredeemable isolated from experience. MOQ's
message is that experience and existence are integrated. Hence the
"no one can avoid metaphysics", while you stick to SOM's metaphysics
as theories about experience..
Hi Bo,
Andre demonstrates just how hard it is to escape from the shackles of SOM. Yet
to me and some others it appears transparent that experience and existence are
inextricably linked. What you see is you-seeing, what you hear is you-hearing,
etc.
There's no division between me in here and you out there, just as there's no
division at the inorganic between space and time or waves and particles of
light. But, you need not go to physics for examples. Carefully examine
language and you'll realize its divisions that create patterns of meaning are
really not divisions at all. Thoughts are always "of" or "about" something,
inextricably linked. That's why "metaphysics,"experience, "existence," and
"reality" all go hand in hand.
Black is true, so is white.
Dark is true, so is light.
Each unlike, each apart,
Yet both are one at reality's heart.
Straight is true, so is round
Silence is true, so is sound
Each is different, each a pole
Yet both are one in existence whole.
In other words, little self and Big Self. When your little self gets in touch
with Big Self you escape, if only for a moment, from your separate self sense,
from SOM, and DQ shines through.
The trick is to change your metaphysics so DQ shines through more often.
