" The question isn't, "What makes people insane?" It's "What makes people SANE?"

"The way to really deal with insanity, he thought, is to turn the tables and talk about truth
instead. Insanity's a medical subject that everyone agrees is bad. Truth's a metaphysical
subject that everyone disagree's about. There are lots of different definitions of truth and
some of them can throw a whole lot more light on what was happening to Lila than a
subject-object metaphysics does.
If objects are the ultimate reality then there's only one true intellectual construction of things:
that which corresponds to the objective world. But if truth is defined as a high-quality set of
intellectual patterns, then insanity can be defined as just a low-quality set of intellectual
value patterns, and you get a whole different picture of it.
When the culture asks, "why doesent this person see things the way we do?" you can
answer that he does not see them because he does not value them."

Ron:
This part really explains the concept and the utility of the MoQ for those of us who seem
to see contradiction in Pirsigs work concerning the interpretation of the intellectual level.
Obviously Bob is using it in two different contexts. In a cultural context and an acultural
context. Western cultural context of the "intellectual level" is objective, there is only one
intellectual construction of things. Therefore within this context, Bob begins his critique
of SOM metaphysics and explains how history, evolution, anthropology, and even experience
can be expanded by understanding that objective truth is one of many high quality
patterns of intellectual value. This is greater explaintory power. This explaination expands
intellect, expanding the intellectual level for western culture.

Bodvars explaination, his SOL explaination, well, doesent really explain anything, and does
not expand the intellectual level. He stated it offered nothing to the intellectual level.
He views MoQ in strict evolutionary terms, which is based on objective truth. In strict
objective evolutionary heiarchal terms he makes his aguement that the intellectual level
is the objective one contruction of reality then establishes that the MoQ IS the true
realtity. He clearly defines the term metaphysics as synonomous with experience.
Which then, if accepted, makes the combined statement that MoQ is experience
and the intellectual construction of it is S/O ....I must ask Bodvar, what is the greater
explainitory power?  Quantum physics has tread this ground for over 100 yrs with
greater explaination depth and clarity than Bodvars weak and vague consructions.

Bodvar, to clear the air once and for all about SOL, what is it's greater explainitory power?
What is it's practicle use? how will it improve our lives?
