Poor DMB and his fellow travelers. He just can't stomach the fact that 
Pirsig in no uncertain terms favors capitalism over socialism. Nor can he 
accept the fact that intellectuals are taken to task by Pirsig for being 
completely ignorant of  the role that social moral patterns play in keeping 
biological patterns under control. Result: the "social catastrophe" of the 
present day. Why are intellectuals responsible for this catastrophe? Because 
they are stuck in the rigid frame of SOM.
