Result: the "social catastrophe" of the present day. Why are intellectuals
responsible for this catastrophe? Because they are stuck in the rigid frame
of SOM.

John:

Right Platt,  When SOMish intellectualism is your highest value, when you
pursue it and encapsulate it and attach your career to particular
intellectual formulation, the inertia of such intellectual patterns is too
forceful to ignore or put aside anymore and you're bound to a static
interpretation, regardless of evolving necessity to change with the times or
adapt to new problems.

This isn't a complete indictment of intellectualism or the academy, it's
simply pointing out the prevailing problems with those things.

It's impossible to kill ALL intellectual patterns when your career and
livelihood are attached to some of them, and thus, Morality is NOT served.
