no it doesn't. that is SOM thinking. the perception of redness is prior to
an object possessing that colour and a subject with a retina.

Guilty, I guess. I still find SOM to be a very powerful metaphor. I use it
every day.

an all encompassing evolving way, *without* intelligence. sorry i don't get
that. the Tao IS intelligence.

The Way is the path of least resistance. It does not require intelligence to
follow, only tuning to the path. It does not imply purpose, intent or
destination. Evolution is response to change. The Tao is what remains.
