I've always sung that line "kiss the sky" ??

Well, that's my point. "kiss the sky" is what he says. "kiss this guy" is 
what many people hear. There is a book about often misheard song lyrics,

and I think "I buried Paul" is one of these. At least, several sources are 
"sure" the actual words John says is "Cranberry sauce". Although a few 
times listening to it right now it sounds like "Raspberry" to me.
