Laramie,

I have listened to several of Wilbur's books or lectures on tape. I think he
is a wacko. Color coded stages of enlightenment, multidimentional maps of
lines and levels... puuulezzzz.

I liked his borrowing of holons and enjoyed his review of Piaget but all
this talk of higher levels of transcendental consciousness is just silly. We
are not evolving TOWARD anything. We ARE consciousness. Our societies and
shared memories are consciousness. I don't like taxonomies of the abstract
at all but at least Pirsig's has face validity. Stability in the inorganic
allows biological development. Societies are one form of biological
evolution out of which shared memory and transmitted culture can develop in
the Intellect. That is the process. Biological intellect may allow the
development of machine intelligence or it may allow the flowering of life to
spread. But talk about transcendent consciousness it just tiresome.

Case,

You should really check out Ken Wilber's latest book, "Integral
Spirituality".
There is a section in the appendix entitled "Integral Post-Metaphysics" that

I think you would find illuminating.
