I like being on the lake, yet among the trees. But some people like
the wide open spaces. They want to see sky to the horizon. I've
enjoyed that too. Been thinking of the mountains lately.

Let's see. The work started in September with a bumper crop of
acorns, and a storm last week left the trees completely bare. Many,
many, many bags. This year it was more enjoyable than ever
before. It wasn't gumption as much as it was surrender.

Now I'm looking forward to the snow. I like to shovel the snow in
the middle of the night. I plug into some music and dance my way
through it. It's quite splendid to be in a snowstorm or surrounded
by moonlit snow. Maybe listening to Gordon Lightfoot or John
Williams. I'll set my ipod to shuffle, and just shovel.
