Mark,

I love music too.  In fact, I love it far too much.  I not only use 
it to quiet my mind, I use it to escape everything else.

I had a daily meditation practice for a couple of years.  Nothing 
spectacular, but it was enough to enable me to watch my 
thoughts.  Now I practice a kind of mindfulness thing where as often 
as I can remember, I bring my mind back to the present.

Even with my limited experience, I know meditation to be a powerful 
gift.  And I can't imagine understanding the Eastern philosophic 
point-of-view without it.

I apologize for all the questions.  Now your Western dissection of 
Dan's explanation of the text I quoted is understandable.
