What I was trying to highlight about Zen (Chan)
and Amerindian mysticism was it's practicality. With
Zen, there is meditation (which I know that's not your
cup of tea, which is fine) due to not just its' use in
being enlightened, but in its' help in relaxation.
Tea ceremony which makes drinking tea beautiful.
Flower arrangement say for the table in the living
room is a Zen meditation. This is called zazen.
Zazen is applying Zen meditation to everyday living.
One is to eventually be 'harmonized' or 'relaxed' to
life enough that in time while washing the dishes Zen
is to be experienced. That is practical Zen called
zazen. Also, the Amerindian practicalities of the
hunt and village life were enhanced by a beautiful
sense of what has been described as an aweness of
life. It was this aweness aspect of life that seemed
to glimmer even when they cooked at times. It was the
dynamic quality allowed to be noticed in their static
patterns.

Thanks for your comments,
SA
