Oh, I agree. But because we are better in some ways, does not mean we are better
in all. And it also does not mean we should be content and strive for
improvement.

On the liguistic side, you see language as constraining the possibilities of
what we think.  I see language as providing for the maximum possible ways of
thinking.

Just for point, I don't see language as simply constraining. Following the work
of Archer or Giddens, I find language "structurating", which implies BOTH
affordances and constraints. And, just to clarify, when I say "discourse", I'm
referring to the meanings created by words, through human interactions, I don't
believe in an abstract "language". In fact, I consider language and culture to
be intertwined in a sort of "linguaculture". That's why I prefer "discourse" to
"language". But that's another story.
