Peter,
[Peter]
Must re-read Chapter 32 too.
[Marsha quoting Pirsig]
While sustaining biological and social patterns
Kill all intellectual patterns.
Kill them completely
And then follow Dynamic Quality
And morality will be served."
(Lila, Chapter 32)
Hi, Peter, I reread Chapter 32 today. Any static
pattern that can go on and on, and therefore have a
definition that is open-minded is an open-ended
pattern. Life is an open-ended pattern. The edges
and borders of life drop-off all around us. Death's
Path is not excluded to bones and hair fallen to the
earth. We endure Death all the time, and our thoughts
creep in, again, warding off Death. Death carves upon
our lives, we somehow maintain ourselves, and if I
stay intellectually anywhere too long, then Death is
not near - I need this lifeblood called Death.
Without Death near and dear to me, my heart will not
have anywhere to beat, my life will have nowhere to
go, and I will not step, but stand forever.
As the Wind of Death peels our fragile lives,
the fallen pieces somehow bloom flowers.
Thanks,
SA
