[Platt]
Arlo asked if on orders I would shoot a dead girl in battle. Does that
question make sense to you?
[Arlo]
Arlo asked, "So, if you were ordered to shoot dead a little girl on the
street... in battle... , you'd aim and fire, no qualms or questions asked?"
I didn't say "shoot a dead girl", I said "shoot dead a little girl". If you
were ordered to do this in battle, would you?
[Platt]
Furthermore, Arlo admitted he would rather face a firing squad than drop
the A-bomb on Hiroshima, thus shortening the war which, in spite of the
fact that the war ended shortly thereafter, he called propaganda. You
consider that a rational response?
[Arlo]
Certainly. Because the premise, that it "saved millions of lives", is
incorrect, or at the very best highly disputable. That Arlo would refuse an
order to murder a hundred thousand innocent people is something he is proud
of. That you would so willingly do it, is something I'd be ashamed of. But,
hey, that's just me.
