Platt said to Arlo:
...You're hard pressed to come up with even one instance of praise for
something specific America has done that's good for the world.

dmb takes a stab at loving things American, only adding to Arlo's list:
The Bill of Rights. The Civil Rights Act. New York City and the the San Luis
valley. Cheeseburgers and the ice cream sundae. The Nuremburg trials. The
founding of the United Nations. Noam Chomsky. Bill Hicks. Sarah Silverman.
Lucinda Williams. Joseph Campbell. Robert Pirsig. Outdoor Christmas lights
and road trips just for the hell of it. Hollywood movies,
alternative-country music, urban bohemian culture and Levis 505s. John
Steinbeck and Jack Black. The Nation, Harpers, The Daily Show and HBO's
Deadwood. Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Charlie Kaufman and Modern Drunkard
Magazine. Most of my friends are American too. Hank, Woody, Bob and Bruce.
Texas hold 'em. The transcendentalists, the hippies, the beats, the blues,
bluegrass, rock, the Rocky Mountains, and ice-cold beer.
