Probably not.

What "powers of productivity" do you have in mind? Last time I looked it still
required labor to produce the necessities of life. So I don't think "what if" is
possible.

We would want to overcome the depression, but in doing so would gladly 
trade freedom for food. The current status quo and order would then
find it most difficult to come back, just as the status quo and order before
the last depression never came back.
