Hi Marsha,

I began drawing cartoons in high school and progressed to painting landscape
watercolors from there. Homer has been a major influence. There's a hymn that
best expresses my reason for painting:

For the beauty of the earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth,
Over and around us lies.
Lord of all, to thee we raise.
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For me, painting is a form of grateful praise for the beauty I
have experienced. And yes, I too am just a student.
