I agree with you Jos,

As I say "plant a million trees" is a good thing to do, but as I also
said there are as many scientists saying it's probably too late to
have enough effect, so we need some addional ideas.

Evacuating the planet is just one option. You'll notice Branson has
that horse backed too ;-) Kinda handy being a billionaire. (I'm a big
fan of Branson, I could tell you stories from the late 70's ....
quality long before he was wealthy. )

This stuff is all rhetoric though (I chuckle at the people debating
whether it's science or politics - the answer is yes, it's called
rhetoric.) What matters is quality patterns of action, that recognise
reality (not simplistic versions of reality).

Whilst it may be very nice eco warrior rhetoric to say "plant a million trees" we would have to plant trees at a faster rate than we are burning fuels, and given the growth rates involved compared to the rates of combustion (in which I include respiration) it just isn't going to work.
