Squonk predicted dmb's relply:
You retort: That's rubbish. Is that the best you can do?

dmb says:
Exactly. T'was a big fat bucket of face-saving weasle words. Thank you very
little.

We all know that Pirsig has described the MOQ as anti-theistic. He's said
that only a mystic can rightly associate DQ and God. And nobody seems to
have an intelligent argument for theism. So why does the debate haunt us?
Why am I cast as the bad guy? For defending the obvious? Because I believe
nonsense shouldn't go unchallenged in a philosophy forum? If it weren't for
the efforts of various stubborn and defensive theists this whole debate
should have disappeared long ago.

Mark: You've kicked me in the teeth for my efforts, but i want you to know i
don't resent you for it.
I can see you are angry, but i think i understand dmb.
You're not a bad guy, but one person can't divert the shear momentum
intellectual history overnight.
Be good to yourself.

dmb:
I'm with Arlo. I think we could really benefit from Joseph Campbell on this
topic and he illuminates Pirsig's work in other ways too. Wilber does
mysticism too. But none of them are theists. I mean, there are intelligent
things to say about that "spiritual" dimension but we never get around to
that discussion because we're too busy bullshitting around with thing like
"intelligent design."

What a waste.

What a drag.

sigh.

Mark: But this is what any of us may be up against dmb: waste, drag, lies.
You are a valuable motivation for change and i want you to know that i wish to
help you if i can, and support you if necessary. Stop sighing and look at the
stars. I want to help keep us all out of the gutter dmb.
Love,
Mark
