At last I had a chance to read the excerpts from Time about consciousness
that you provided. For that, much thanks. I'm sure you'll agree the articles
reflect the scientific assumptions of materialism, reductionism and emergence
spontaneously of new patterns from complexity. For intellectual arguments
presenting another possible explanation of the phenomenon of consciousness
I recommend a paper by Charles Birch entitled "Why I became a Panexperientialist"
