And you assume this to be the case? You don't think maybe the Brits 
got caught in an act of espionage? Would they (or us) admit it if 
they had? I'm not sure what's going on here, but I am not so quick to 
just assume "our side" or "their side" of the story, to the point of 
risking war. But I ask myself, what benefit would it be to Iran to go 
into open waters and kidnap British soldiers? This would be like 
asking for the US and British to invade their country. On the other 
hand, what benefit would it be to Britain (and the US) to conduct 
espionage on Iran? Which is the more likely scenario? Us spying on 
them and getting caught? Or them attempting to get us to invade them?

So food, shelter and clothing ought to taxpayer provided, too?

I have no problem with my tax dollars providing basic food staples. 
Nor do I have a problem with tax-supported shelters or even 
tax-subsidized loans for the poor to get basic housing. Now I assume 
you'll try to make this into lobster tails and mansions for everyone, 
but that's not the case.
