But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the  Wright brothers. But they also laughed at the Smothers Brothers and the Y2K scare. 

Science can't afford to be too rigid but it can't get anywhere near gullible. It also cracks me up when a ufologists talks about himself as if he were a persecuted, misunderstood genius or heaps scorn on those closed-minded hacks over at NASA.
