[MD] A fine mess

Ron,

Being would be UNABLE to interact
with value, if value did not precede it.
(Being is the 'fish' in the 'ocean' of value.)

Denotatively, I think we agree, but the
statement:
     Being is subordinate to value,
leaves a picture of one block atop another.
I think the more dynamic nature of being
and of value is highlighted, conotatively
in the statement:
     Being is interaction with value

The individual being, born into an ongoing
world is value patterns that interact with other
value patterns in the most basic levels of
discovery. Illusion of self / illusion of other,
really just the difference between now and
what came before.

...or something like that...

time for coffee, thanks--mel

Mel,
My understanding rests on the fact that being is composed of value
therefore I find it necessary to posit that value precedes being
in correspondence with Pirsig. While being may be seen as
interaction with value (value interacting with value) I hesitate
to use this for it seems to promote the conceptualization
of entity and seprateness.
thanks
-Ron

Interesting.

Although it seems that it might be more helpful
to think of it this way:

Being is interaction with value.

thanks--mel
