I am not a scientist but from what i have read some genes do last as long as
the vehicle - the individual; genes are extremely high quality replicators
that are passed on through very many generations and in that sense they last
much longer than the individual.

This is biological evolution - the matter part of the MoQ model.
Mind has its own evolution which, like a downward ray of creation, forces
the genes to build better brains.
