Ham to Marsha

Value is neither "past" nor "present", although our finite experience of it
is awareness in time.
Experiencing and learning is a process, and like all processes our existence
is dynamic.
(Sorry to have to disagree with RMP, but his "static pattern" concept
doesn't support evolution or the experiential nature of existence.)

We live in a space/time world of appearances. The phenomena we experience
are all the result of change and difference which frames the universe. The
only truly "static" entity in reality is the uncreated source, and that we
can only hypothesize about.

Andre:

Ham, you do not have to disagree with RMP. I note a dismissiveness of
Pirsig's MoQ on the above grounds but you really should, before you reprove/
dismiss someone' ideas, read some MoQ literature. ZMM is a good one for
early, essential orientation. Then Lila, then SODV and then Anthony McWatt's
PhD and perhaps you could begin (following on from this (your) post, with
The Role of Evolution, Time and Order in Pirsig's 'Metaphysics of Quality'.
But I would recommend Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (ZMM), which
isn't really about cycle maintenance but about working on a cycle called
yourself.

Cheers
Andre
