John said to DMB
"Liked the "know what I meme" jibe tho. Nice."

Me too. Jibes are Dave's speciality. Particularly rhetorical "I come
to bury Caesar" style. I used it on Dawkins, Dave used it on me.

Dave, so you are not going to respond to the actual points in the mail to you ?
Or we could even discuss what bugs you if you prefer.
Simply crying "drivel" is no argument - it's a meme in fact - you see
Ian on MoQ, someone "nice enough" in the flesh, but that bug in your
brain goes "drivel", and one you spread at each opportunity. Exactly
the same as the SOMish bug - people talk economics, and their brains
go "gimme the numbers" - count some objects for me.

Pick one substantive point, any point. John can referee ;-)

Regards
Ian
PS I wish I could be at Oxford to shake your hand a share a pint again
Dave, but sadly the chances of being there are dwindling.

Actually, it's not really the guy himself. I met him in the flesh once and he seemed like a nice enough person. And it's obvious that we have some interests in common. I'd even go so far as to say that ANYONE interested in philosophy in general and Pirsig's philosophy in particular is all right in my book. But damn. The posts he puts into this forum are pure drivel. Intellectually speaking, at best, it's as healthy as marshmallows and mayo on wonderbread. And just as colorful.
