Hi Dave, Steve and anyone else:
Steve to Dave:
I snipped out the places where you conflated warrant and truth above,
and I think what's left is the heart of the matter.
Andre:
I am very truthful guys... and have no idea what you are talking about (so I
really should fuck off)... but 'Part of the difficulty is that today's
culture confuses knowing, which is born of insight, with memory, which is
born of repetition. Insight comes in its own time, when the mind is ready,
and it transfigures information into wisdom, whereas recollection is a
mental property that enables people merely to access experience without, in
any meaningful way, understand it. ( remember Phaedrus' frustration with the
Church of REASON?).
Which explains the great spiritual impoverishment of our age. For knowing,
deep knowing, is a prize that can be won only by voyaging...into the deeps
of consciousness and paying in full the price of pain and patience that is
demanded of those who passionately need to know.' (example Phaedrus!!!)
(Reanney, p 122-3).
Perhaps here also lies a distinction between the philosopher and the
philosophologist!!!
Good night
Andre
