Yes you are right. SOM does recognize the existence of subjective values.
But you are also wrong. SOM has no problem with fitting values into its
worldview - Quality is whatever you like - insert Aristotlian Laughter here.
SOM assigns values to subjects. And although Ham says there is no other
kind, Pirsig is saying something quite different.
SOM doesn't include the notion that values don't exist, though it does
