Ian said to Bo:
There are only three issues that remain unresolved as far as I can see ... The purity / immediacy / primacy of so-called "pre-conceptual" experience... I'm still searching, with the help of others here. Quality, DQ in particular remains ineffable as far as "definition" is concerned too. ... finger and moon arguments about where "intellect" lies in the MoQ, yet contains the MoQ Metaphysics as an intellectual pattern is perfectly reasonable position ... that the philosopher / philosophologist debate is spurious to the MoQ itself, etc.
dmb says:
I think the philosopher/philosophologist distinction is just a species of the dynamic/static distinction. In fact, I'd say all of these so-called "unresolved" issues are just various symptoms of one central misunderstanding. I mean, Quality and preconceptual experience are the same thing. Since definitions necessarily entail the use concepts, pre-conceptual experience can't be defined. This is the same reasoning behind the notion that there is always a discrepancy between the MOQ (as a metaphysical system, it is an elaborate a set of concepts) and the preintellectual Quality it describes.
That big section from chapter 20 of ZAMM summarizes that third wave of crystalization, the mystical wave, and so brings a lot of the ideas about Quality together in one place. Check it out and tell me if that didn't help.
