I do not think Platt is a fool either.  I don't much care for his 
political arguments, but I love his search for beauty and his ability 
to always find an interesting RMP quote.

I thought about that as the one weakness in my case. However, Platt's vision
of what 'beauty' is and what it means, is something I find hideous and
horrifying and I have never see him quote Pirsig in a way that did not
ultimately diminish my respect for one or the other.
