Squonk to Andre:
What awareness which RMP identifies as pre-intellectual experience is
that which i am suggesting may be identicle with emotional response.
The social asigns symbols to emotions but these symbols are not
themselves emotions.
The intellect may abstract further, but I feel pretty sure i
experience emotions without the necessity of postulate their
existence.
Andre:
The existence of emotions is not in question here. To assume their
existence is a high quality intellectual PoV because they offer a high
probability 'explanation' of what happens at the organic and social
level.
What we are exploring here is your: 'If quality is not the same thing
as an emotional biological response to it, how is quality experienced?
Let's be clear on what we are talking about:
Quality is the 'undifferentiated aesthetic continuum' . It is the
continuing stimulus which the environment puts upon us. How is it
experienced?
Well, you asked for my 'own thinking upon the matter', the experience
dissolves (momentarily [ time is at zero]) all static PoV's. ( I am
sure you recall the examples Pirsig uses in Lila and the description
in ZMM).
What I find very difficult to accept is that, as you argue, the
response to Quality is (solely) emotional. Empiricism works , at
least, with all the 5 sense of which kinesthetics is only one. Not to
mention, on top of these five there are also intuition, imagination
etc, etc.
It is in this sense I spoke of the helpfulness of Bodvar's 'expression
list'. An expression list as responding to... .
Now, if this has led you to be pissed off with me by saying:
I apologise,
i had been taking you seriously.
...then I am sorry to hear this. I am not MoQ expert, and will
certainly not behave myself as 'a propagandist for a particular cause'
as the Chairman was in ZMM (p385). I am looking for high quality MoQ
explanations by exploring it.
If emotion is the way Quality is experienced then how does this
explain evolution?
Anyway, perhaps you have given up on me Squonk. Alas.
Kind regards
Andre
