[Will]
It's good to keep an eye out for those that wish to control.

[Arlo]
The problem is that everyone, on both sides, feels this way. You may recall the
laughter and derision that those who drew parallels between the fascist
tendencies of Bush and the rise of Nazi power met. And yet now those same
people seek to create the same fear. Back when Bush was President, for example,
many "radical leftists" claimed there were FEMA camps being established, and
millions of coffins ordered, for a coming coup. Glenn Beck, among others,
laughed at the "wackos" who could even conceive such a thing. Now with Obama in
the office, Beck (and others) are cautioning that FEMA is establishing camps
and producing millions of coffins for a coming coup.

The rise of Nazism was exemplified by three strong points. (1) the vilifying
and constant attacks on "academia". (2) the vilifying and constant attacks on
"the liberal media". (3) continual references to a non-racial "other" for who
all the worlds ills and troubles could be lumped. The US is certainly moving
towards a Canadian model, but let's realize that the "nazi boogeyman" has a lot
more to it than universal health care and public works. Indeed, the three
points above demonstrate far greater long-term problems for our nation than
moving towards a Canadian health-care model.

For what its worth, I strongly disagreed with the bailouts, bailouts started
under Bush, I remind you, with no to little opposition from those "base" now
claiming such things smack of Hitlerism.

[Will]
For example the reference that Arlo sent me:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-intellectualism seemed highly slanted towards
the current administration.

[Arlo]
I guess anything that disagrees with one's predispositions could be written of
as "slanted", no?

[Will]
So long as we know this is happening, we may have a chance. It's those that do
not know this is happening that I worry about.

[Arlo]
Me too. Especially those that think they know what is happening.
