Unfortunately Wilber is a dedicated SOMist. His big schematic of reality is
divided into Interior (Subjective) and Exterior (Objective). He offers a lot
of
interesting stuff about the Great Chain of Being, and his critiques of
contemporary philosophical outlooks, like Postmodernism, are devastating.
Still, he has precious little to offer about morals. They play no role in
his
analysis of evolution In short, Wilber offers a feast of philosophical
thought, but for me it's a matter of "Take what you want and leave the
rest."

Every time Wilber comes up I just wish he would go away. But even I would be
hard pressed to criticize him for being a dualist. After all his whole deal
is nondual...
But here are a couple of reasons for seeing Wilber as just another crank.
1. He takes seriously the notion that dogs and trees can have souls.
2. He is sympathetic to intelligent design and has cast himself as
anti-evolutionary.
3. In the Descartes link Marsha posted the other day he talks about the Big
Bang and claims that "spirit" (whatever the fuck that is supposed to be)
must come before the Big Bang.
4. In a link to the side of the one Marsha posted he starts some kind of
cheesy EEG machine to his head and allegedly demonstrates stopping his brain
waves. Since absence of brain waves is a sign of death one could only wish
him success in his future attempts.
5. Even for a new ager his fashion sense is deplorable. Tank tops? OMFG!
