I'm aware of the religious arguments to this affect for both life and/or
mind before the inorganic. I have also read Alexander's nonreligious
approach that claims that some tiny degree of life can be described
mathematically even at the quantum level. I don't understand it, but I know
it's out there. I certainly have no problem considering "seeds of intellect"
at the biological level then we might be getting some where. But I can't
claim to know where "where" is :-)
