practiced among many Christians every week as the central theme of their

Please note that I said Christians practice "ritual" cannibalism. I did not
mean to suggest that they were grilling their neighbors. The question of
human sacrifice is interesting because while Jesus' death was a political
act not a "sacrifice;" the idea that God demanded Jesus' death as a human
sacrifice is certainly part of Christianity. In that sense it is a bit like
Platt's implied notion that what matters in morality is body count.
I am no expert on Islam but I am not aware of any such parallel beliefs
among Muslims.
