I agree with "dance" being a ritual and as such a social pattern, but its
function may vary wildly. "War dance" was/is to work themselves into
a will to kill and ignore biological pain. Some other dance ritual among
"natives" was to invoke other powers, forces, ecstasies. The "civilized"
ball-room dancing served the purpose of bringing the sexes together
under decent - ritualized - circumstances. The disco and "house"
dance is an intellectual parody of the social ritual, the individuals use
of drugs a way of access to biology without by way of its arch enemy
society .

> If I dream of boogying with Hallie Berry is that dancing?

Don't tell me you limited yourself to boogying so that was not dancing.
;-)

> Just what in reality, is it really?

There is no reality beyond the Quality Reality, but the various static
levels has their own reality and when "leading edge" this was that
epoch's metaphysics. While it ruled as SOM intellect made us believe
in a real (objective) reality different from the apparent (subjective)
reality.

IMO
