No, the cat's instinct is that which counteracts gravity's effect so 
that the cat can land on its prey.

The cat is affected by gravity. The cat doesn't have a concept about 
gravity. However, the cat lands on its prey anyway. I.e. gravity is 
around even without any concept of it.
