You conflated "animal" with "mammal" and my point for some time has been
that mammalian awareness is a process which produces socialization.

And it's not that babies have eye contact, it's that they actively seek it
in active a process.  Socialization process, to be exact.

Mammals.  Not animals.  Protozoans and reptiles need not apply.
