Reproduction - sex
Hunger - eat
Thirst - drink
Breathing - er, breathing
etc.
All of the above are physical activities and exist at the
inorganic/biological levels.
I.e. they are not social or intellectual.

I think reproduction is a biological drive like hunger, thirst and breathing, processes required for survival, pure drive. I think our understanding of the word sex is different. You seem to be using it more as a reproductive act, and I see it more as the social ritual&etc., which includes giving and receiving pleasure.

And, often, we get to sex by the social 'dance' - literally in some cases! The only way I can see sex as social is when group sex or orgies are on the menu - making sex about pleasure and not reproduction.
