[MD] Another one bites the dust

Hi Horse,

The Captain is a part of Quality, quite on topic. I saw Pink Floyd in
England in 1975, perhaps I saw the Captain at the same time and didn't
remember, maybe I didn't know what had hit me, although I had been
introduced to the Captain by Zappa fans. Maybe there were substances
present that affected my memory at the time, can't remember. So I
looked it up, and sure enough I musta seen him. Out there in
Knebworth. We must have been at the same concert! Along with 80,000
others. We got there early to get near the stage, and put our blanket
down. Pink was doing Wish You Were Here, and Roy Harper came on to
sing "Have a Cigar", and maybe some more. I think he also played as a
backup band. Then during the plane crash song on Dark side, a small
plane on a cable came over us on fire. Pink had some great back up
vocalists, and lots of lighting effects. They were the last ones on
stage because we had to wait until it got dark, then there were the
fireworks I think. I can't remember if it rained or not, that year,
but I do remember the bus ride back to London took forever because
there were cars broken down all over the road.

I went there a few years later for an all day Jazz festival. Not
quite as good, but OK.

I used to go to concerts at the Hammersmith back then, or Wembly if I
wanted to fight the crowds. I actually lived near Hammersmith in the
late 80's out in Ravenscourt Park on King street, so it was an easy
walk to the concerts (and to the river pubs for that matter). My
favorite that I remember was the Pat Metheney Group. He is quit a
guitarist, makes all sorts of sounds. Of course Santana was always
good.

Small World, Hey?

Mark
